How I Want to Quit Smoking

Cancer is deadly, and almost every individual, including some children, know that fact, which is why I have thought of how I wanted to quit smoking when I was in college, and how I want to quit smoking now that I have a family.

When I was in college, I used to smoke a whole 20-stick pack of cigarettes, and that is my minimum consumption in just a whole night, not including the day, since I’m attending classes and I only buy at the store every after dinner. I did keep up with this many sticks in only a night’s time, as my body seems to handle it quite well. That was before. Of course, now that I rarely walk like I used to because I work at home and didn’t need to go to any office far from our house, my body seems to be getting rusty, and the next morning, it’s almost sure that I will have coughs and it seems like my lungs are filled with tiny amounts of water.

During my college years, my friends and I occasionally talked about quitting. One of them told us that he would not want to quit smoking to enjoy life to the fullest and not get too old; just enough to meet his grandchildren. Another friend of mine had a different thought and told us he will quit smoking around his forties, and I was in the same boat with him. Of course, we were naïve, and little did we know that quitting would be a lot more difficult once you’ve had it in your system.

Now that we’re in our late twenties, quitting became less of our concerns, and smoking seemed to be a permanent part of our daily routines, given the need to work for our families. However, I still feel that I would want to quit smoking some day, and with the current technology, I may just have to choose using electronic cigarettes in the future. I don’t really know if these electronic cigarettes give the same amount of smoke that real cigs produce. It may be a big factor for me because I enjoy seeing the smoke that I exhale whenever I smoke. I may have to ditch those nicotine patches and other stuff that only satisfy the physical needs and go with electronic cigarettes instead on my way to quitting smoking.
